WANTED – Help at the Door

Brothers,

The Tyling Committee is looking to expand, partly due to the loss of our Brother Gene and an increase in the use of our building for other events.

Duties include:

  • Check-in of brothers for regular Scottish Rite events
  • Escorting visiting brothers (or guests for some other events) to the office, meeting room, etc
  • Assisting brothers and guests at the door – calling the elevator, holding the doors open if needed
  • Watching the door and greeting guests for other functions (no check-in required, usually)
  • Politely answering questions from the public about our building, but not allowing them entry (unless officers or the office staff expect them)

Ideally, we would like two brothers at the door at any Scottish Rite meeting or feast.

You do not have to be here for every meeting or event – we all have other commitments (personal, family, masonic).

I will send schedule updates and work around our committee members’ schedules.

During day-long meetings (one day to Masonry, Reunion Saturday, one day to York Rite, and other major body events), we will need coverage for the entire day. Still, we try to split the time into AM/PM shifts or ensure coverage for many guests, such as during lunch or dinner rushes. These days, they typically greet the attendees and direct their events.

This is a great way to meet and greet a lot of brothers, including some you may not have met before. With full coverage at the door, you can catch up on any degrees you may have missed, would like to see again, or would like to participate in.

If you are interested in joining us or need more information, don’t hesitate to contact Bill Brown or see him at the door (most times).
